Recycling is a fundamental art which, in addition to being good for the wallet, is also good for the environment .

In the kitchen, recycling is essential and recycling waste is a magic that never ceases to amaze.

Precisely for this reason, today you can read below how to recycle egg shells and at the same time help your favorite plants .

Anyone who lovingly cares for a vegetable garden knows perfectly well the advantages that an eggshell can bring to a plant and how it can make it grow healthily.

If you want to know it too, you absolutely must stay on this page!

Eggshells can be used as both a repellent and a fertilizer .

How should you prepare the shells to use them?

In addition to crushing them we can use them in two other ways:

  • Flour

to make eggshell flour we need to take a dozen eggshells and let them dry in a shaded area. Then place them in a bag and crush them until they obtain the consistency of a powder. When needed, we will simply have to add 1 or 2 tablespoons of this flour to the soil for about 40 days . By doing so we will give the soil useful calcium for our plants.

  • Waterfall

To obtain the water from the shells we must pour 3 liters of water into a saucepan and bring it to the boil together with 6 egg flavours . By pouring the result into the ground, we will be able to give the plants the beneficial minerals and calcium they need.

After seeing how to use them, let’s see specifically what they are for.

Check soil acidity

Eggshells control the acidity of the soil in which we want to grow the plant. You simply have to add the ground eggshell into the ground for a long time . In this way, when we water, the shell components will penetrate the soil very easily.

Keep parasites and snails away

The eggshells create a sort of wall against the snails and caterpillars, making them abruptly move away. By rubbing on the shells, these parasites injure themselves and then abruptly reverse.

Making compost

Do you usually make compost at home? Then you can simply add eggshells to it. You can easily mix the shells with coffee grounds making the plant substrate much more fertile.

Eggshells can also be a perfect fertilizer. They are rich in nitrogen , calcium , potassium and phosphorus and it will only be necessary to insert them into the substrate of the soil . They will improve the development of plants in a very fast way.

I’d say it’s time to get to work!
