But there are some fruits that can be found on the market all year round and are among the most popular and common even if some of these have origins in places totally different from the ones where we live.

On the market, we usually find yellow or green bananas depending on their ripeness, although it is always better, as experts advise, to consume those that are medium ripe.

However, there are various types of bananas, including the light blue ones which, due to their ripeness, tend to have a vanilla flavor but which are almost impossible to find in Italy.

Differently, in recent times in Italy it is possible to find red bananas which are much sweeter than normal ones, even if their cost is high and is around three times that of normal ones.

The secret that few know

The banana has also become much loved by children following its popularity thanks to the Minions characters, the minions from Despicable Me who are fond of this fruit.

But not everyone knows that although we only ingest the internal part of the fruit and throw away the peel, we are actually wasting something truly precious that we should all use at home.

In fact, videos are spreading on the web that explain that once the banana has been peeled, it is necessary to keep the rigid part at the end that holds all the fruits together and let it dry.

Before placing it in the sun, however, it is a good idea to cut the stalk and open it so that you can see all the fibers which are removed and placed inside a container exposed to the sun for a few hours.

What we will have is a set of banana fibers which will be very useful for our plants, as placing them on the ground inside the pot will act as an excellent fertilizer for our plants.

In this way, these will grow strong and vigorous not only by acquiring water but also the intrinsic properties within the banana fibers which in contact with water and soil will give strength to our plant.
